John Bell - Director
John has had a diversified career in exploration and production drilling operations spanning more than 30 years. He commenced his oil industry career in 1974 as a trainee drilling engineer with British Petroleum in the North Sea. From 1978 to 1987 he diversified into drilling contracting, holding operational and management positions, working on land rigs, jack-ups, multi-well platforms and on semi submersibles in harsh environment areas. He returned to E&P companies in various international drilling supervisory roles and managed offshore drilling operations in Australia through to 1994. Most of his international experience was acquired in the Middle East, North Africa, North Sea (Norwegian and UK sectors), Yugoslavia, Canada and Australia. In 1994, John co-founded RBT Petroleum Associates and developed drilling project management as its core business, working primarily in Australia, New Zealand, South-East Asia and the Middle East. After the merger of RBT and ECL, he was appointed to the main board of directors of the ECL group of companies. In January 2004, he established a new independent well engineering and drilling project management company under the long-established name of Australian Drilling Associates Pty Ltd.
Phil Stratford - Operations Director
Phil graduated from the University of Leeds with a B. Eng. honours degree in Fuel and Energy Engineering in 1988, he is a chartered engineer (C. Eng.) and a registered European engineer (Eur. Ing.) Phil joined British Petroleum as a trainee drilling engineer in Aberdeen. Since that time he has worked in the North Sea and North Africa for operators including Ultramar, Lasmo, Amoco, BP, Venture and Paladin Resources. During this period he has worked in a variety of planning and operational roles, fulfilling positions from offshore drilling supervisor, senior drilling engineer, drilling superintendent and drilling manager. He was the Project Manager for the Montrose Main Field Redevelopment in the North Sea, a role that broadened his experience and responsibilities to include offshore construction and commissioning as well as drilling. His experience covers all types of drilling rigs both on and offshore, and includes completions and work-overs in addition to all spheres of drilling engineering and operations. Phil joined Australian Drilling Associates in 2006 as Drilling Manager and subsequently became a Director in 2007.
David Parker - QHSE Manager
David Parker has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has over 25 years experience in the Petrochemical Industry in addition to several years in heavy manufacturing. He is highly experienced in Operational HSE Management and very versed in the use of supporting tools such as accident investigation, risk identification, risk management philosophy and techniques, auditing, development of safety management systems and safety cases. His roles have included "hands on" engineering commencing as a project engineer to senior operational roles, in many different parts of Australia, Asia and the Pacific Islands. In later years, his passion for "safe operations" saw him champion behaviour safety culture change within many operational businesses.
David Lindell - Chief Financial Officer
David holds a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Mathematical Statistics and Accounting. David spent the early part of his career in professional practice with a chartered accounting firm and in 1991 was admitted as a member of the institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. David is an experienced financial manager, business analyst and strategic change manager having worked both in small and large private and government sector businesses. David has worked extensively in the corporatisation and privatisation of various government utilities wherein he managed the commercial review, restructuring and re-engineering of these businesses, often including the implementation of new financial and management information systems. David has experience in the acquisition and sale of businesses, due diligence, business planning, promotion of new ventures, the raising of venture capital and was responsible for the financial business plan and projections contained in the prospectus of Pacific Hydro Ltd prior to its float in 1994. David understands the commercial drivers of business and participates at both the strategic design and the hands on implementation phases of new business initiatives. David has a no fuss approach to business and takes a professional and common sense approach to the execution of his duties.
Leen Vlot - Business Development Manager
Leen graduated in 1987 from Delft Technical University with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and subsequently started an international career with Schlumberger Oilfield Services in 1989. A career that started as a trainee Field Engineer in Aberdeen providing Cementing and Coiled Tubing Services for various North Sea Operators. Upon transfer to Norway the responsibilities shifted to Project Engineer and Field Service Manager adding Sandface Completions in long horizontal wells as an additional area of expertise. The last assignment in Europe was based in The Netherlands representing Schlumberger in the Shell onshore Well Construction Team. This further broadened his experience to include drilling and completions operations, before transferring to Perth, Western Australia, to manage the Schlumberger Well Services operations in Australia and New Zealand. With the last two years as Operations Manager, Leen was accountable for both onshore and offshore operations for all Australasian clients, providing services in Cementing, Coiled Tubing , Nitrogen and Sand Control. Leen joined Australian Drilling Associates in 2007 as the Business Development Manager, located in Perth, Western Australia.
